Tokina 16-50 f/2.8

I have been waiting for a mid-range zoom for a long time now since I have been primarily using my shit kit lens. I was looking at the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 and even the Nikkor 17-55 f/2.8, but the quality of the Tamron was questionable and the price of the Nikkor was even more questionable ($1200 USD+) !!

I hope that this new offering from Tokina has the same quality as their other lenses. If this is so I will be a proud owner of one in the near-future.

The going rate for one of these is about $650 and is currently available at

Got me self some new Toys!

Went down to Samy's on Saturday a picked up a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8, a Hoya HMC Circular Polarizer and ordered a 2gb 150x ridata sd card from Newegg (hopefully it'll get here in time for my trip).

The lens so far is awesome! Super fast autofocusing and clear as day images in low light indoor shots.

All this for a grand total of: $220.

Nikon D80 + ____?

Found out I get some pretty good benefits from Nikon at my work. I am pretty set on the d80. Now I am just wondering what my first piece of Nikon glass will be. 18-70? 18-200 vr? shizar!

I will have to make this critical decision soon. Can't wait! Must get it before Hawaii.

Can't wait to open a Flickr account with my DSLR images! Yay.
